Fairfax, VA – Fairfax County, Virginia
employs more than 11,000 people in over 200 owned/leased facilities
totaling 7.5 million square feet. With growing concerns over national
security, Fairfax County undertook a critical security strengthening
program. They determined that the first task was to assess the security
vulnerabilities at each of their facilities in a short period of
time. Fairfax County chose SAKO for the project.
Partnering with URS, the largest architecture and engineering design
firm in the world, the SAKO team developed the structure and content
of the risk assessment survey. We created SakoNet™ a proprietary
electronic project management program that enabled on-site assessors
to enter data electronically. This data was immediately available
online through the SakoNet website so the client was able to review
documentation and project progress at any time.

In a second phase of the project, SAKO security consultants surveyed
26 representative Fairfax County buildings, ranging from a government
center complex and a police academy to health department facilities
and a commuter parking structure. We then provided threat assessments
and security recommendations for each facility.
