The year was 1969. After chairing Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley's blue-ribbon
panel investigating the cause of the McCormick Place fire, Rolf
Jensen was approached by two major architectural firms to help them
comply with building codes.
He responded by opening the first office of Rolf Jensen &
Associates in Chicago. Created to assist architects, engineers ,
owners and developers with their code compliance challenges, the
practice grew dramatically and quickly.

Jensen pioneered the fire protection engineer profession and presided
over the evolution of RJA into the leading provider of consulting
servcies until his retirement in 1994.
Today, 35 years later, Martin Reiss has transformed RJA into a
professional consulting firm providing the most complete offering
of life safety and fire protection engineering services.
From the single office in Chicago to seventeen offices across the
country and in China, one thing hasn't changed since 1969, the firm's
client-first mission is still...
"technical excellence and fast response."
